The 10th competition - exhibition "Students, All to Chaumont" of the Chaumont Poster Festival is organized in partnership with the CRIPS (Regional Center for AIDS Information and Prevention), supported by the MILDT (Interministerial Mission for the fight against Drugs and Drug Addiction). Its purpose is to allow graphic design students to speak out, in order to further a social awareness of the use of psycho-stimulating substances. This action aims to give rise to exchanges and debates about drug addiction, its effects, its pleasures and its harm for the individual and the society, to rally those working in the visual and communication field, and to involve the actors of prevention in the issue of information on drugs. In the context of this partnership, apart from the prize awarded by the jury of the Chaumont Poster Festival, a second jury, organized by the CRIPS and the MILDT, made up of professionals from the health, prevention, communication fields, as well as graphic designers and youngsters, will select 10 projects in order to design 10 posters for a national prevention campaign. The jury's decisions will be without appeal. The award winners, together with professional graphic designers will finalize their images during a 3-day workshop to be held in June or at the beginning of July. The award winners agree to allowing their images to be used for the purpose of the national campaign of the MILDT and the CRIPS and to using the images for any sort of medium. The organizers reserve the right to cancel the competition in case of absolute necessity.
The poster competition-exhibition is aimed at graphic design students from art schools, universities, technical and vocational schools, may they be public or private, enrolled for the current year. This competition will give rise to an exhibition of all the posters entered and an award in the context of the 14th Chaumont Poster Festival, on Saturday, 24 May 2003.
Theme to be treated this year:
Each poster must be sent in with a completed participation form, a photocopy of the student card and an i.d. photo of the participant. These documents should, under no circumstances, be pasted onto the poster. The poster must neither be framed nor backed. It should be carefully protected for shipping, which is at the student's charge. For students from outside of the European Community, please make sure the shipping does not involve any customs duties, which the association of the Festival would not be able to cover. The organization accepts no responsibility for any damage caused to the entries shipped. The organizers reserve the right to show the posters during further events (permanent, itinerary or temporary exhibitions).
The organizers reserve the right to reproduce these posters on any medium or media in order to ensure the promotion of the Chaumont competition - exhibition and any possible further events, as well as for any catalogue, or works published on various occasions, press articles covering the festival, internet sites, etc
In partnership with the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Champagne-Ardenne DRAC, the city of Chaumont is considering creating a database including all the posters, which have been entered by the participants of the Chaumont Poster Festival and the students' competition, as well as vintage posters, which were bequeathed to the city. Consequently, the author transfers any property right to the city of Chaumont on the material medium of the copy of the poster, which he delivers to the city of Chaumont by the means of the student competition. The author is also committed to transferring to the city of Chaumont, at no charge and non-exclusively, the right to reproduce and represent the poster, which he/she created, for the legal protection period of the intellectual property. The poster is intended to be integrated into a digital database, which will accessible in France and abroad as a CD-Rom or on the Internet. The author guarantees the city of Chaumont not to take any action for counterfeiting or based on the right of the image related to his creation. The author is free to reproduce the poster, which he/she created, on any medium. The organization reserves the right to refuse posters counter the regulations or offending moral standards, religious or national feelings.
The participants of the competition - exhibition "Students, All to Chaumont" must also send their image on a CD-Rom, TIFF format, 10 x 15 cm, 300 ppi resolution, colour mode CMJN, in order to ensure a better printing quality for the planned publication, which will gather together all the posters entered. Any participation implies full acceptation of the present, without any restriction or limitation of the present regulations.
All the poster entries, which imperatively meet the format, will be exhibited during the festival and will be published in the catalogue for this purpose. The jury, made up of professional graphic designers, representatives of the CRIPS and the MILDT, will award three prizes, each materialized by a diploma. The jury may award no or only a part of the prizes. The award winner of the first prize will receive 1000 Euros. All the participants will be granted 10 copies of the planned publication.
