INTRODUCTION

The Computer Art Biennale has taken place in Rzeszow since 1994. The person behind the very conception of the event and also its organizer is Mr Zbigniew Rybka.

The exhibition attracted a fair share of friends and supporters already during its first edition and since then has been recognized and become popular all over the world. The Biennale offers the new medium a perfect occasion for confrontation, giving satisfaction both to the artists and to the public that willingly visits the exhibition rooms. The Computer Art Biennale originated at the moment of the birth of computer art and has become a place identified with this medium also abroad, as the Biennale is the only such exhibition in Europe.

Among the prize-winner of the Biennale have been: Takashi Akiyama (Japan), Roman Duszek (USA), Renuad Contet (France), Thomas G. Kovacs (USA) and Joao Machado (Portugal), Han Jia Ying (China), Stanislaw Walicki (Poland), Shin Matsunaga (Japan), Leszek Szurkowski (Poland/Canada), Mitsuo Katsui (Japan).

Every two years Rzeszow becomes a true hub of the world's computer art: the collection has been opened to the public at the galleries of Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, the USA and the Ukraine.

The Biennale has been discussed during numerous radio and TV programs as well as in the press. The interest in the event is constantly rising. Its 3rd edition was prepared in collaboration with the Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield.

The works submitted to the competition have always been evaluated by an international jury, among which there have been: Francisco F. Longoria Pinazo, Joao Machado, Gilles Fiszman, Stanislaw Wieczorek, Kan Tai Keung, Paul Ibou, Herbert Kapitzki, Lech Majewski, Marcello Minale, Claude Renouard, Maciej Buszewicz, William Beverly Carter, Mimmo Castellano, Ernst de Jong, Gianni Bortolotti, Eduardo Camacho Cabrera, Andrea Hagestedt, Anders Holmquist.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. The 6. CAB aims are (1) to show achievements in computer art, which is to stimulate the development of computer graphic art, (2) to establish a permanent gallery of computer art.

  2. Only graphic works produced by the computer (as computer prints, matchprints, proofs tec.) in the years 2002 - 2004 will be accepted for the competition.

  3. Every artist participating in the competition can submit an unlimited number of works. Each work must be accompanied by a copy. All works, including copies must be hang signed and sent to the address:

    To aid catalogue production, an electronic version (CD, ZIP, JAZ for Macintosh /Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand/ or IBM /Corel Draw, Photoshop, Illustrator + fonts/) must be included

  4. Date and place of expositions:
    6 November - 31 December 2004 Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre Gallery in Rzeszow

  5. The closing date for the receipt of works together with entry forms (attached) is October 4, 2004.

  6. The information included in the entry form will be used in the exhibition catalogue.

  7. An international Jury appointed by the organizers will award the following prizes (gross):
    First Prize - 5.000 PLZ
    Second Prize - 3.000 PLZ
    Third Prize - 2.000 PLZ

  8. The jury reserves the right to alter the value of the prizes.

  9. Winners will be invited to Rzeszow for a three day visit (prize winners will have to cover transportation costs to Poland, all expenses in Rzeszow will be covered by the organizers).

  10. Each participant will receive a diploma of participation and a catalogue of the exhibition.

  11. All works sent for the exhibition will become the organizers' property.

  12. Overseas participants should ensure that packaging of their exhibits carry the wording: "Printed matter. No commercial value".

  13. The organizers of the 6. Computer Art Biennale reserve the right to reproduce the works in the catalogue and other materials promoting the Biennale without charge. All works will carry the artist's name.

  14. The collection of the 6. CAB is likely to be shown in exhibition centres in Poland as well as abroad.
