In April 2006 The International Latino Cultural Center in Chicago will present the 22nd edition of the Chicago Latino Film Festival. This goal of this festival is to break the barriers of stereotypes and provoke the audience to challenge mainstream ideals of the Latino identity by showing, through film, that Latinos are defined by more than 20 Iberoamerican countries and come from all social and racial backgrounds. Latino graphic artists are invited to participate in this event by submitting work for the Film Festival Poster Contest by 30 November 2005.
Guidelines:
- The contest is open to all artists. All entries must be received by deadline Wednesday, November 30, 2005 --5:00 p.m.
- There is no limit to the number of entries submitted.
- IMPORTANT: Entries must be mounted on an 8 1/2" w x 11" h board.
- Use colors and design concepts that create a strong graphic presentation.
- The design must be easily translated to a variety of print materials such as
30" x 36" size posters, newsprint ads, cotton t-shirts, bus ads, film, etc.
- In the artwork, incorporate "22nd Chicago Latino Film Festival, April 21- May 3, 2006."
Include your name, address, email and phone number on the back of each submission.
Entries will be evaluated based on appeal, content and marketability. The decision of the judges is final.
- The International Latino Cultural Center does not assume responsibility for submissions. Artists providing a self-addressed stamped envelope will have their design(s) returned.
- If your poster design is selected, you win USD$500 and your design will become the face of the Festival; it will be on the cover one million newsprint schedules that are inserted in various Chicago newspapers. Also, your artwork will be on invitations, program books, t-shirts and much more - unlimited and priceless exposure. The winning design is selected by a panel of judges in the fields of design, arts, public relations and marketing. The winning poster will be unveiled in January 2006 in Chicago.
