CONCOURS ETUDIANTS TOUS À CHAUMONT / STUDENTS ALL TO CHAUMONT !
The 15th Students Competition of the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival Of Chaumont once again teams up with the CRIPS-CIRDD Public Health Association* of the Ile-de-France Region to devise a subject aimed specifically at students. This year, participants are being asked to submit posters based on the theme : We, men and women. In order to avoid being too general, the theme itself is divided into 6 sections: We, men and women... as seen in... history / politics / work / media / family / sexuality. We are looking for applications which explore and express, via images, questions of domination, power and violence as well as pleasure, seduction, equality and otherness between men and women. In a word, those ingredients which give rise to us, humans. We will be looking for works probing this diversity from all angles, religious, cultural, social, generational and so on. Globalization and the concomitant mingling of civilizations and cultures have totally changed relations between women and men. Progress, regression or uniformization of behaviors: how can we consider and understand differences and put ourselves on track to think in terms of equality ? As part of the partnership with Crips-Cirdd, and entirely independently of the award handed out by the Chaumont Festival, there will be a 2nd jury, organized by the Crips- Cirdd, with people from different backgrounds (associations, graphic arts, social studies, etc.) who will select 10 posters to create a printed pedagogical document to raise general public awareness about relations between the sexes. These 10 posters will be widely distributed (urban areas, schools, cultural venues). The winners, with help from professional graphic artists, will finalize their work during a 5-day workshop in Chaumont at the end of September 2008. Winners agree that their work could be used as part of a nationwide campaign in France to raise awareness on this subject. The Crips-Cirdd is specialized in public health and awareness issues related to AIDS and drugs. In 2003, the Crips Ile-de-France, with the added support of the French drug prevention inter-ministerial body, participated in the 10th Students Competition leading to the selection of 14 winning posters, which were used as part of a nationwide drug awareness program. THE POSTER COMPETITION-EXHIBITION is aimed at graphic design students from art schools, universities, technical and vocational schools, may they be public or private, enrolled for the current year. This competition will give rise to an EXHIBITION OF A SELECTION OF POSTERS ENTERED and an award in the context of the 19TH CHAUMONT POSTER FESTIVAL on Saturday, 24ST May 2008. The organizers reserve the right to cancel the competition in case of absolute necessity. Theme 2008 :
