DEADLINE: October 5, 2008

Inaugurated in 1999, IGDB (Ningbo International Poster Biennial) has hitherto been successfully held for four times. Around the world IGDB has built up a good reputation, positive influences and its own position. IGDB has become the symbol for China's international graphic design. IGDB is held to demonstrate and promote design thinking and expression of design from today's young designers, meanwhile to explore the new trend in the developments of the society and the design.

A tremendous change in contemporary graphic design follows a big social transformation. After great changes in media and ways of communication, the boundary between different disciplines is getting blurred. The graphic design is no longer what we knew. Since IGDB 5, IGDB will not only focus on a particular medium, but on cross-media and inter-related disciplines. IGDB 5 will accept works from all areas, including posters, typoface, books, identity, architectural graphic, environmental graphics, signage system, website, new media, packaging, installation, interactions, maps, products, games, interface, video, animation, and independent projects.

IGDB encourages innovative thinking and creativity, and devoted itself to enhance the development of design, design research and communication of design in the world. IGDB calls for new thinking, methods and ways of expression. All shortlisted entries and their teams will be widely honored and commended by IGDB. It is the first time the IGDB 5 awards prepared a high bonus, and still without any participating fee. IGDB 5 will no longer set a student design category. Students and professional design teams will get the same entry qualifications. To encourage student participators, IGDB set up an award in addition, which is specific for students, "Next Wave Award".
