November 17, 2003, received from Frans van Lier
From 12 december 2003 till 29 february 2004 the Affichemuseum in Hoorn (Holland) will show the cream of Dutch poster design from 1950 - 2000. About 125 cultural posters (for theaters, festivals, museums) from 31 designers will be shown, all from the collection of Amsterdam designer Bart Boumans.
In the second half of the 20th century Dutch culture got a new dimension as a new flow of posters brought art and culture 'on the street'. Two generations of designers rose to great quality with their work for Holland Festival (since 1947), theatregroups, ballet and museums like Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum. Work will be shown, among others, from Anthon Beeke, Wim Crouwel, Gert Dumbar, Dick Elffers, Gielijn Escher, Lex Reitsma, Willem Sandberg, Otto Treumann, Jan van Toorn, Benno Wissing, Lucebert. The title of the exhibition is Nederlands hoogtij (Holland's height). |
