Fax poster exhibition at the Ogaki Poster Museum, Ogaki (JP)
2005.07.30 - 2005.08.10, 9:00 am - 5:00pm (Closed on Tuesday) Noboru Matsuura, the founder and curator of the Ogaki Poster Museum wrote a remarkable introduction to his exhibition, which adresses the question what we can do today to avoid tragedies of the magnitude of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the future. He concludes with At the 60th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki this year I contemplated what we could do, and remembered we could hold the problem of "peace and nuclear weapons" by visual language jointly with the graphic designers from both international and domestic sites by way of fax art and advance the dialogic thought with citizens. 84 endorsers sent 218 works of fax art to us during March 1 to March 31. They were all concise, explicit, and powerful and the work by Mr. Wang Xu in particular was as impressive and beyond my imagination as being one complete work with 60 A4s in total. As we evaluate the 20th century that was the “Era of War and Science” and make the 21st century the era in which we can leave the peaceful environment of the Earth to our children, we would like to proceed with the dialogic thinking through posters.
