Animations by Istvan Orosz Finissage: Sept 17, 2006. 11:00 "…nothing but confusion…" a lecture about the anamorphoses by Istvan Orosz ISTVAN OROSZ was trained as a graphic designer at the University of Arts and Design in Budapest. After graduation in 1975 he began to deal with theatre as a stage designer and animated film. Later when poster came to the centre of his interest also made mainly theatre, movie and exhibition posters. Under the influence of Eastern-European pro-democratic movement he drew some political posters as well. Throughout his career he always been drawn to tricks of perspective and optical illusions and incorporated many illusionistic concepts into his graphic posters and illustrations. He often uses hidden meanings, inverted figures, and anamorphosis while following traditional printing techniques such as woodcutting and etching. He is a regular participant in the major international biennials of posters and graphic art and animated film festivals. His works has been shown in many individual and group exhibitions in Hungary and abroad. Occasionally he participates in international designer and artist congresses. Film director at the Pannonia Film Studio, member of Hungarian Art Academy, teacher at the West Hungarian University, co-founder of Hungarian Poster Society and Utisz Graphic Design Studio. He often uses Utisz as an artist's pseudonym.
