Dear Colleagues
We would like to inform you about the Basel Summer Workshop Program 2007 and the International Masteršs Program starting September 2007 in the Visual Communication Institute/The Basel School of Design: Five years ago, The Academy of Art and Design Basel started the successful Basel Summer Workshop Program for students, designers and educators. This year we are offering classes in Type Design, Poster Design, Information Design, Interactive Design, Designing Illusions (Video Animation) and design research through the methodology of Inquiry by Design. We have an exciting program with a highly motivated and qualified staff of teachers and would appreciate it if you could help us make it as successful as the past years. Our web site www.fhnw.ch/hgk/ivk/summer-workshops-2007 contains all the specifics and application information. Furthermore, we are starting in September 2007 a unique International Masteršs Program in collaboration with the University of Illinois Chicago, School of Art and Design. The notable educational concept of the Basel School of Design, its tradition and its present day focus make the MA program an extraordinary opportunity to achieve a high level of practical and theoretical design competence. The MA program is involved in the current discussion in the field of iconic research. In combination with the strong practical background of the Basel School of Design, graduate students are given the opportunity to be at the cutting edge of the discourse concerning image theory and design-oriented research. We hope you will pass on this information to students, faculty and designers who might be interested in our programs. We thank you in advance for your assistance. Sincerely, Michael Renner University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland
