"Graphic Imperative" exhibition going to Istanbul, Turkey

"Selections from The Graphic Imperative"
at Garanti Gallery, Istanbul, Turkey Garanti Gallery will proudly be hosting the exhibition "Selections from The Graphic Imperative" between 31 July - 25 August 2007. “Selections from The Graphic Imperative” is 50 posters “selected” from the original 121 posters present in the larger traveling exhibition The Graphic Imperative: International Posters for Peace, Social Justice and The Environment 1965–2005 a retrospective of forty years of sociopolitical posters. The exhibition was organized by Elizabeth Resnick, Chaz Maviyane-Davies and Frank Baseman in collaboration with Massachusetts College of Art, supported in part by the Massachusetts College of Art Foundation and Philadelphia University. “Selections from The Graphic Imperative” was organized by Elizabeth Resnick with curatorial assistance from Bülent Erkmen. In the exhibition there are posters from different countries. Bülent Erkmen and Savas Cekic’s work from Turkey can be seen. Last year Garanti Gallery had an exhibition on the Israeli graphic designer Yossi Lemel’s work and now one of his posters is among those to be exhibited. Yossi Lemel and Elizabeth Resnick will participate in a panel* on August 23rd at 18:30 in the Conference Hall of The Ottoman Bank Museum. * The panel will be in English accompanied by simultaneous translation.
