News: Screenadelica Liverpool gig poster exhibition call for entries
received from Gary McGarvey

Hi

I am currently curating a gig poster exhibition to be held during this years Liverpool Sound City Festival in May(19-22). The exhibition, similar to that of Flatstock held during SXSW in Texas, shall be a collection of Europes finest gig poster artists, offering them the opportunity to sell prints of their work(screen/giclee) while also getting the chance to meet the bands and the people behind releasing the music they design posters for. We hope to make the exhibition the hub of the festival with impromptu performances from this years line up gracing a designated space, listening posts so the festival goers can plan their nights music, tea rooms, all this with the exhibition being housed on one of Liverpools busiest streets in its Cultural quarter, we can see our first show being a great success!

We are artists putting this exhibition on with help on the promotion side from the festival, we will have to charge an entry fee but then all sales are commission free. We shall be working a deposit scheme where artists will pay £50 then the remainder before the exhibition itself. The whole fee is £150 but as we negotiate sponsorship this is subject to change, any savings we make shall be directly passed onto the artists, we want to keep costs down as much as possible for those exhibiting.

We would love you to nominate either yourself or artists you think would be a great addition to the exhibition, we have trawled through the internet as best we can but we are always being directed to new and exciting artists that we have missed. We really want this project to give the artists the best of exposure to an audience where they will have the opportunity to not only sell their wares but also the possibility of some great work from the music industry.

Please dont hesitate to contact me for more information, more information can be sent out to artists upon request. Below is the short press release.

Kind Regards

Screenadelica

Screenadelica is a gig poster exhibition and sale to be held during Liverpool Sound City festival this coming May, 19th til 22nd. Similar to that of Flatstock held during SXSW festival in Texas, we want to assemble as many of Europe's best poster designers and show them o to the music world, while hopefully giving them a platform to sell some of their work.

Liverpool Sound City, showcasing local and national talent, the festival is a chance for indus- try insiders, promoters, tastemakers to sign the next big thing and music lovers to discover their favourite new band, but now giving them the chance to discover their favourite new artist.

Screenadelica will be held in a prime city centre location, in between the main venue stages of the festival. An old Art Deco style building, the exhibition will be housed over 2 oors with 50 artists showcasing their work. We want to make the exhibition the hub of the festival so we shall have selected acts from this years line up gracing the venue, playing impromptu sets over the 4 days, listening stations so you can plan your evenings listening and many other exciting features which are quickly coming together as we speak. Upon sign up, we will oer you a line up from this years festival to design a poster for, although you will be asked to keep these line ups hush hush until they are announced, but I guarantee you that you will nd some amazing acts in there this year!

The opening night will be an invitation only event where artists will get the chance to show o your skills to the people playing the festival, record labels, press, and a host of music industry people from all over the world. This is a great opportunity for exhibitors to make an impres- sion and hopefully get some great future jobs from, so have plenty of business cards at the ready!

This exhibition is all about getting the gig poster artist the exposure they deserve, offering them that platform to sell their wares and hopefully some great custom thru their doors as a result.
