Today, portable hard disk drives and flash disks are being vastly exploited to store and convey data all over the world. Watches, hard disk drives, laptops, cell phones, etc. are all among the devices we use every day and the manufacturers of these devices try their best to attract customers via the use of industrial design, and at least in Iran hardly any brand has ever done any work in particular on exterior design and there is basically no link between the manufacturers and graphic designers in this process.
To better illustrate this relationship, it would be better to point out “Niklaus Troxler”, one of the most prominent graphic designers in Switzerland, who started working with “Swatch” Company, a manufacturer of watches, and during his cooperation with this company he started to design the exterior of the watches, which led to satisfying results on the customers. Another instance would be “Apple” Corporations which created designs of famous music bands on its iPods and had a surprisingly noticeable sell in the market.
Thereupon, and in respect to the visual appeal and the possibility of implementing innovative and practical designs on these products, Rang Electronic Magazine will hold a new event in Iran, called “Dress Me Up”, together with Avajang Corporations.
In regard to this event, after several meetings, Rang editorial counsel made a start on this project by choosing nine graphic designers and exchanging views with them. “Dress Me Up”, which aims at designing the exterior of portable hard disks, came into action with the cooperation of a number of graphic designers, and will be held in an exhibition with the same purpose in the Iranian Artists’ Forum after revising and choosing the best works.
Saed Meshki, Mehran Zamani, Parisa Tashakori, Behrad Javanbakht, Tahamtan Aminian, Pedram Harbi, Farhad Fozouni, Iman Safaee and Homa Delvaray are some of the artists involved in this project.
The announcing and awarding ceremony of the selected designs will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday January 28th 2011, at Niloufar Gallery, in the Iranian Artists’ Forum, with the presence of the artists. To attend this event, you can refer to the Iranian Artists’ Forum in Bagh-e-Honar, Mousavi (Forsat) St., Taleqani Ave., Tehran.
The photo exhibition of this event will be lasting until February 3rd in Niloufar Gallery in cooperation with Kingmax Company, Vijeh School, Nafar Group and the Iranian Artists’ Forum.
