He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Professor Henryk Tomaszewski. After earning his diploma in 1966, he began his career as a poster, book and logo designer and illustrator. Wasilewski has taught at the Warsaw Academy of Arts since 1971. In 1985, he was made Professor in the Academy of Arts as successor to Henryk Tomaszewski. Mieczyslaw Wasilewski has also taught at universities and schools of higher education in Damascus, Frankfurt am Main, Groningen and Helsinki.
