The concept of the exhibition in the National Museum of Szczecin is defined by a specific selection of the works it contains. The posters touch upon socio-political themes and create a real display of artist's early and newest work. Next to the posters of a very reduced form (as the author puts it: in a poster less is more) and those of a more extended form which the artist himself calls image poster which can be characterized by the reduction of color and lack of typography from which the image profits. The newest works presented are more experimental compared to the traditional concept of poster, which the artist calls object posters. The essence of these object posters lies in a complete omission of a sheet of paper, printing ink and the whole printing facilities with simultaneous maintenance of the most important poster elements, i.e. poster thinking.
The exhibition is thought to be a dialogue between the viewer and the image-object-poster, in the context of omnipresent socio-political themes in the artist's work, from which - according to the artist - nowadays you cannot escape because it will catch you everywhere, at the least expected moment.
The works of Lex Drewinski are recognizable because of the unique synthetic form of his graphic mark with which he emphasizes the topic presented in the poster. They are distinguished by an ascetic approach to form and color, intellectually deep and often ironic message. Behind these attractive forms, despite the draconian reduction of resources, emerges a figure of an artist who's sensitive to the present-day political and social problems, an active commentator - a mentor of our time.
