LIC Arts Open Festival
Internationally renowned, New York based Luba Lukova creates iconic images that have punch and are laced with such feeling that they often merit a second look. She is regarded as one of the most distinctive image makers working today. Lukova uses metaphors, juxtaposition of symbols and very few lines and text to best capture the essence of basic humanity. Her work is included in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Library of Congress, Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, and the World Bank. She has held solo exhibitions at UNESCO in Paris, DDD Gallery in Osaka, La MaMa Gallery in New York, and the Art Institute of Boston. LIC Arts Open Festival is a 5-day extravaganza of exhibitions, open studios, and performances, whose “events and activities provide exposure for and outreach to the vibrant population in Long Island City, well known as the largest and most diverse artist community in New York City.” |
