Piotr Kossakowski
Born in Sosnowiec, 1976; studied under Professor Zbigniew Blukacz and Professor Roman Kalarus at the Acedemy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Obtained Diplomas in Painting and Poster Art (2005). He is currently working as an assistant lecturer in Professor Ireneusz Walczak’s Section of Painting at the Katowice of Fine Arts, where he received his Ph.D. in Art in 2009.
He was the recipient of scholarships from the H. Kollataj Foundation (2003), The Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2004) and the Marshal of the Province of Silesia (2008). In 2004 he was awarded a prize in the Samsung Art Master Competition (“Fabryka Trzciny, Warsaw). Recipient of an honorary mention at the Poster Festival in Krakow (Palace of Art of the Fine Arts Society, 2005) and 39th “Bielska Jesien'” Paintings Biennial (Galeria Bielska BWA, 2009) where his featured work was purchased for the collection of the Foundation for Silesia.
In 2010 he participated in two events organized by Galeria Bielska BWA: the “Sfera Sztuki” Art Fair and the “Bardzo dobre obrazy” exhibition. In the same year he also prepared a solo exhibition “The City” which was staged at Galeria MM in Chorzow.
