Posters from Iran about the Mina tragedy during Hajj
received from Pouria Oriany
Mina Tragedy Poster Project
On September 24, 2015, during the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, a sad incident happened in Mina, Mecca, at the intersection of streets 204 and 223 leading up to Jamaraat Bridge. A really painful occurrence! The exact number of dead is still unclear, may be more than 2000 people, but something that is obvious is the fact that the 2015 Mina crush now stands as the deadliest Hajj disaster in history. We believe the disaster directly was a result of poor management of the government of Saudi Arabia. This painful tragedy made a deep impression on the Iranian people especially Iranian artists and graphic designers. Anyway this project is a visual artistic reaction to the disaster from several Iranian designers curated by Pouria Oriany that has also been published by Panart artistic online magazine recently.
