I would like to invite you to the biggest show I ever did in one of my favorite galleries. My year in Paris in the early nineties was very influential on my decision to work with drawings and illustrations. The variety of graphic and illustration concepts in Paris was and is enorm and inspiring. After the fall of the Berlin wall I often took the night train from Berlin to the Gare du Nord in Paris and those trips produced a lot of magical situations. The two countries and cultures are so close and so far from each other. The night trips were not only a relocation, furthermore a process of personal transformation. I talked to many people on the trains, shared the small sleeping cabins with them, watched the illuminated industrial landscapes and read unknown words on signs with a different design tradition. To see and hear things I did not really understood triggered the weirdest and funniest imaginations I often used later in my work. I am happy to come back to Paris with this exhibition.
