(Zaczarowany Melonik czyli pokaz plakatów Kajowatych w Dworku Bialopradnickim)
7. - 28.10.2016
Centrum Kultury Dworek Bialopradnicki
The exhibition is the first solo show of the artist in Cracow. Ryszard Kaja will present most representative of his posters, most of them are from the series ‘Poland’ and the works that make reference to the area of Cracow and Malopolska. The artistic career of Ryszard Kaja is clearly divided into two periods. The first - connected with the stage - where he worked as a stage designer, the second period - tied with the posters. A characteristic feature of his work is the interpenetration of the two passions - his set designs are pictiorial and graphics are theatrical. He is the author of more than 200 designs for theater shows and about 200 posters, including monumental cycle ‘Poland’. He creates mainly posters related to the themes of culture, consciously refers to the Polish school of poster art and to the work of his father - Zbigniew Kaja. The main inspiration for the whole of his work is unique perception of the world taken from prose by Bohumil Hrabal. In all his works can be seen daily praise and respect for the ordinary.
