When I started the project "Foundations of Typopgraphy" in 1999 with the lovely character B, never would I have dreamed that one day I would fall in love with two characters at the same time, nor that they would be chinese. Well, here they are: Shang (meaning "on top" or "above"), and Hai (meaning "sea"). They often appear together, particularly in the city of Shanghai, where I took the pictures below:
