Text and pictures received from Aysegul Izer & Emre Senan

I met Aysegul Izer and her husband Emre Senan at Grafist 19, an international meeting organized annually since 1997 by the Graphic Design Departement of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. They later sent me a fat roll of their posters which I would like to share with you. Please also look at the separate web exhibition with fascinating digital art by Aysegul Izer.

EMRE SENAN Born 1954 in Konya. Graduate of Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (IDGSA). School of Applied Industrial Arts (UESYO). Teaching assistant at the same school. As creative director, he lead and supervised many communication campaigns, corporate ID design and publication projects. Drew cartoons and illustrations for daily newspapers, worked for NGO's voluntarily. His album 'Karakatur' was published by Metis Publishing House. Designed book covers and illustrations. His works were exhibited and admitted museums in Canada, France, Switzerland, Korea, Czech Republic, Germany and Iran. Won numerous awards in various national animation film competitions and Turkish Society of Graphic Design exhibitions. Exhibited work and conducted a workshop in 8th Grafist, and was a jury meber in the 9th Tehran poster Biennial. Produces work in other contemporary arts as well. He had 14 solo exhibitions and took part in other national and international mixed exhibitions. Awarded in Breclaw Small Graphics Biennial. Served as a board member and President in Association of Animation Filmmakers and Turkish Society of Graphic Design. Teaches at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Faculty of Fine Arts Graphics Department through graphic projects. Quit advertising in 2007 and started his own design studio. He runs the Emre Senan Design Foundation, a non-profit center for design students. With three children.

AYSEGUL IZER Born in 1959 in Istanbul. 1985 Got undergraduate degree from ALU-BIH, Department of Graphic Design. 1990 Completed graduate degree in MSGSU-Department of Graphic Design. 1992 Completed proficiency in graphic design education in MSGSU. In 2000 set up her own independent studio. In 2005 became a professor and became a Head of Graphic Design Department in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Co-founder of ESDF and member of Turkish Society of Graphic Designers (GMK). Her works took place in exhibitions, publications, galleries, collections and museums. Participated in many seminars, workshops around the world and served as jury member in several events. Published articles in professional matters. Has a total of 11 awards. She speaks Italian, English, Serbian and Latin.
