Julian Key
1930.05.07 Zaventem - 1999.11.01 Zaventem
"One of the best and best known belgian poster designers" he was called in the catalogue of an exhibition in Kortrijk, and Shigeo Fukuda introduced him as "the light-hearted belgian poster artist" in an article in the japanese graphic design magazine Idea in 1994.
Just as he had shortened his name to Key from Keymoelen, he left away all that was
not absolutely necessary in his posters, similar to Raymond Savignac with whom he
worked in friendly competition in the advertising agency Studio Vanypeco in Brussels
during the early 1950's.
