Guy Schockaert send me the news on the tragic fate of Marcello Minale. He was not only the founder of the successful british design company Minale Tattersfield, with branch offices in many countries, but also a passionate rower, who won a silver medal in the 1960 Olympics. On December 30, he was stabbed to death during a training camp on the french Riviera by a young member of the rowing club he was coaching.

At the Sidney Design Symposium 99, he was introduced as speaker with the following words:

Marcello Minale
Senior Designer/Chairman, Minale Tattersfield Design Strategy Group, UK.
In 1964 Marcello Minale and Brian Tattersfield founded their company, pioneering the concept of the multi-disciplinary design consultancy. Over the years, the consultancy has won 13 Silver Awards from the Designers' & Art Directors' Association, London and a Gold Award from the Art Directors' Club of New York. Marcello has received the D&ADA President's Award for his outstanding contribution to British design. He has published eight books on design.
