Winners of the 2005 Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE)

Received 2005.09.10 from Cedomir Kostovic, Juror. Please see the official web site or the press release for more details.

The 14th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition and three top equal awards winners are:

Claude Kuhn, Switzerland, for the poster "Zoo Bern Inauguration New Seal Pool"

The magic playfulness of the image in the poster "Zoo Bern Inauguration New Seal Pool" by Claude Kuhn, grabs my attention at first glance. Appropriate color selection and subdued typography contribute to the power of this poster. As whole, the poster is clever, cheerful and inviting a rarity in todayıs commercial poster practice.

Tapani Aartomaa, Finland, for the poster AIDS

In the poster "AIDS" by Tapani Aartomaa, metaphorical visual language in combination with quick gestural marks produce one strong, intimate statement about this global issue. It is clear that behind this idea and those marks is a maestro.

Niklaus Troxler, Switzerland, for the poster "Jazz in Willisau"

Minimalist approach and optical illusion in the poster "Jazz in Willisau" by Niklaus Troxler, works!!! Just looks at the poster a little bit longer. Can you see dancing and blinking dots? Rhythm is there, and if you are jazz fan, enjoy. If not, praise that contemporary trend by forever-young Niklaus.

Honorable mention winners are:

Kazumasa Nagai, Japan, for the poster "Life"

Chaz Maviyane-Davies, Zimbabwe, for the poster "Creative Defiance"

Lourdes Zolezzi, Mexico, for the poster "40.000 Children"

Joe Scorsone and Alice Drueding, USA, for the poster "Japanese Masters"
